The Secret of Kells had a limited US release and hasn't made it to UK cinemas - despite winning an audience award at the Edinburgh Film Festival and a whole slew of critical acclaim. The latest accolade, of course, was its Oscar nomination, news largely greeted with a "Who?" from film pundits. But it's a worthy contender, and we talked to the very affable director Tomm Moore recently to get the lowdown on what the film is, how far it's come, and how the heck a studio you've never heard of started playing up there with Pixar, DreamWorks and Disney.
